About Us
Both Ambrose Soehn and William Melhado are 17 years old and attend Boulder High School. They became interested in starting their own non-profit in 8th grade when their teacher urged them and other students to become involved in their communities. They applied for a grant from Youth Venture (
www.genv.net), which is a non-profit organization who awards grants to social entrepreneurs trying to start their own organizations. With this grant William and Ambrose chose to sell sustainable products and partner with similar organizations to raise money in order to purchase and distribute mosquito nets and other much needed living supplies
Mission Statement
Weave the Future’s mission is to raise funds and awareness for the victims of malaria in Mali, Nigeria, Chad, and other Mid-Western African countries. Furthermore, it pursues the improvement of the general well being and welfare of townspeople in Ghana through various means such as clean water treatment as well as the distribution of educational materials, clothing, and living necessities. Weave the Future’s future goals are to expand on a variety of products that will benefit a multitude of problems specific to Africa
About Ghana
The country of Ghana is full of diverse cultural practices, bead making being one of them. The beads themselves are made from either glass, wood, or stone in some cases and are painted with colorful designs. These beads are sold in long strands and when strung with other beads, make beautiful jewelry including bracelets, necklaces, and earrings.
Weave the Future is supporting this age old practice of bead making. All the beads are made of natural resources that the craftsmen are able to find and therefore they are all recyclable and environmentally responsible. By purchasing bracelets, you are supporting not only a tradition, but a beautiful and natural way to express yourself.
About our partnership
Through the partnership between Weave the Future and Molemo Ghana Tours, the experience of distributing supplies, as well as receiving them can become more meaningful to both affected groups. On one side, our products and services will have a more reliable method of distribution to those people who need them most. This step eliminates expensive transportation techniques and unreliable corrupt delivery systems that do not always help those most in need. Additionally, the experience of children and adolescents touring Ghana will be more heart felt when they can give other children they meet much needed living supplies. Camaraderie and pride are also built when a tour group can work together on a community service project and build, for example, a clean water facility for a school funded in part by Weave the Future. Therefore, the joint venture helps both Weave The Future as well as Molemo Ghana Tours by making the experience more meaningful, and efficiently providing help to those in need.
